Renee Reaume
University of Calgary Training and Development Librarian
Calgary, Alberta
In 2006, I came to the University as Head of the Health Information Network until a year-long parental leave in 2011. When I returned in 2012, I was seconded to the Taylor Family Digital Library as the Technology Officer. The scope of my responsibilities grew to include digitization and repository services. I took a research leave in 2016. Upon my return, I accepted an appointment as Director, Metadata Services where I led the integration of LCR’s metadata unit into the Technology, Discovery, and Digital Services portfolio. From 2008 to 2011 I was the 1st Vice President, President, and Past President of the Library Association of Alberta (LAA). Through my time with LAA, I twice co-chaired the Alberta Library Conference, the 2nd largest library conference in Canada, initiated an advocacy guide for library boards, and sponsored an Open Access Policy for the Association. On a national level, I served as the liaison to the Canadian Library Association and to The Partnership, a national cooperative of library associations. In 2005, I was the Chair of the Alberta Public Library Electronic Network Technology Training Committee and in that role, I led the creation of technology core competencies for public library staff. In 2019 I accepted a newly created role of Training and Development Librarian.
